If only we knew about all the free eBooks out there…you can literally find thousands and thousands of free eBooks online. Internet Archive and Project Gutenberg are two great sources of free eBooks. I did do some looking and found worthy titles, which you can find here on this website. Please note that the cover image on this website does not necessarily represent the actual book. I just added the cover to provide a visual of what the book is about…enjoy reading!

Project Gutenberg

In 1971, Michael S. Hart established a digital library and named it Project Gutenberg. The mission statement of this free eBook library is “To encourage the creation and distribution of eBooks.” Michael’s first digitization effort for this Project was the United States Declaration of Independence in 1971. Since then, the Project grew to include more than 70,000 digitized documents. The goal is to “to provide as many e-books in as many formats as possible for the entire world to read in as many languages as possible.”

Project Gutenberg’s mission is to break down the bars of ignorance and illiteracy, by creating and distributing free eBooks.

The Project’s website has thousands of eBooks in the public domain. Although these eBooks are primarily in field of Western literature, there are other topics, such as science, technology, religion, law, etc. You can choose how to read books from the following options:

  • Read online
  • EPUB3
  • EPUB
  • Kindle
  • Plain Text UTF-8
  • HTML
  • PDF (not available for all)

Having read some of their eBooks, I highly encourage you to check the Project Gutenberg website and their eBook selection. You can access their website here:

You can download books that were published in and prior to 1928. For modern books, you can view and borrow them through the Open Library (free account). This library has a ton of interesting and well-known books. You can access Internet Archive website through the link below. I recommend to spend time studying their website because it contains valuable information. You can probably spend days, weeks, and months browsing the available books.
